Little Dreams


She cuddled her teddy bear and said her prayers

A child of six with dreams

She asked for everyone’s happiness as if they were there

Content is she, or so it seems


As the day goes by, playing as children do

You would never guess what her little heart feels

Wishing her dreams would come true

Or thinking how life is and the joy it steals


Little dreams, with a big heart to love

Never complaining or crying out

Homeless and cold, how sad we think of

A child of God, is what she is about


The nights are long and days even more so

Hungry and alone, with not much to wear

Others pass by, with no help to bestow

A heavy burden for a small child to bear


The Lord holds dear, what we have thrown away
